The “send to TV” function that was released for YouTube’s Android app is now available for iOS users. Today, Google updated YouTube for all iOS devices in order to allow users to pair the app with Google TVs by pressing a button in the app. This enables the video to play on the TV, and allows the device to be used as a remote control. Furthermore, users can use this new feature to pair their device with the PS3 or Xbox. YouTube’s new feature looks to be a more recent form of their DIAL initiative, which requires an app on both the smart TV and handheld device. At the moment, Google TV hasn’t become a household name, but YouTube also recently announced partnerships for other brands of smart TVs to take form later on in the year.
In addition to the “send to TV” function, this iOS app also comes with YouTube Capture, which was released as a different app previously this year and allows iOS users to record and upload videos. The newest version of the app, complete with the features listed above, can be found at the iTunes App Store, or for more information on this update, check out the video below.
